Are you interested in serving on a NYSCC committee for the upcoming year?

Here are some guidelines to consider.

o   Standing and special committees shall be appointed by the President with the advice of the Vice-Presidents

o   All potential committee appointees should be vetted through the respective Regional Director.

o   The 2nd Vice-President is tasked with the formation and support of the committees

o   Committee applications will be submitted electronically through the Council website. The application deadline for the upcoming year will be December 18th, 2025. Applications received after the deadline will be entered into a ‘waiting list’ and processed on an as needed basis.

o   Committee applicants who are individual members of the NYSCC will be given preference during the selection process.

o   Committee applicants may choose up to three different committees in which they wish to serve.

o   Committee applicants should be able to demonstrate a level of ‘subject matter expertise’ in the committee that they wish to serve.

o   Each committee may have one voting representative from each of the (9) New York State Regions. Each committee may also have up to four voting members from a Council Associate member organization. Any additional committee members will be considered as ‘advisors’.

o   All Committee members will be expected to participate in committee meetings, discussions and votes.

o   The Council President will approve the final committee rosters based on the information gathered and recommendations of the Vice-President’s by January 15th. The appointed committees will serve until the following January 1st.

o   Each committee will have a Chairperson (or co-chairs in special circumstances as determined by the President). The Chairperson(s) will be responsible for scheduling and conducting committee meetings as necessary to address Council business/concerns related to the committee or assigned to that committee. Reports from those meetings will be provided to the 2nd Vice-President.

o   The committee Chairperson(s) should remain proactive regarding committee meetings/activity. The full potential of the Council committees can only be realized when the leadership is engaged and diligent.

o   The committee Chairperson(s) will have the ability to bring in outside ‘subject matter experts’ to act as temporary advisors. The outside ‘subject matter experts’ can assist the committee and the Chairperson(s) address unique committee discussions. These advisors will need the approval of the Council President.

o   The committee Chairperson(s) will also have the ability to fill committee vacancies in the event of a loss of a committee member. The committee vacancies will be drawn from the current year applicants and the appointment will need Council President approval.

o   Each committee will have access to the Council’s ZOOM account for the purpose of conducting committee meetings. Scheduling a committee ZOOM meeting should be coordinated through the committee Chairperson and the Council’s Executive Director.

By submitting a NYSCC committee application, you are acknowledging that you have read and understand these guidelines.

NOTE: THE OFFICIAL COMMITTEE APPLICATION PERIOD HAS CLOSED FOR THE UPCOMING SESSION.

Any applications received after 12/18/2025 will be handled as reserve submissions
