April 3, 2010: There was a good turnout at the NYSCC Legislative Meeting on March 13th. Most of those in attendance had done their homework and checked out ahead of time each bill that they voted on. Even with the pre-learned info about bills, some of them received considerable discussion on both sides of the issue. Some of the votes were so closely split that the Council’s position on the bill was determined by one vote. The voting tally is available on the “LegislativeMtg Vote Tally” page of this website. Before jumping to conclusions about why a bill was voted in a particular way, please read the entire text of the bill. You can do this in the following way: ♦ Go to http://assembly.state.ny.us . ♦ Click on "bill search" on the left side, choose the "search by bill number" dot, type in the bill number, then click "search". ♦ When the new page opens, click on the blue bill number. ♦ On the next page, click “text” , then “search”.
The NYSCC will hold its March on Albany on April 14th. There will also be a breakfast, sponsored by the National Wild Turkey Federation and the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses, from 8:30 -10:00 AM in the Albany Room of the Empire State Plaza. The breakfast is by invitation and reservation only, so that they will know how many will attend and if necessary be able to change the location. For everyone planning to go to Albany on that day, I will need to know who you are meeting with and how many packets you will need. I will also need to know if you or some of your group are willing to “adopt” a legislator. I will contact those who request packets to advise where to pick them up. I hope to see everyone there!
