Schenectady County Conservation Council’s"Cigar & Spirits” Night Fundraiser at “THAT’S A GREAT CIGAR SHOPPE” on Erie Boulevard in Schenectady.October 7 from 6 –8 PM.Proceeds to support the Youth’s Indiankill Trout DerbyAnd the Collins Lake Ice Fishing Derby

For over 17 years, the Schenectady County Conservation Council has been the major sponsor for the youth Indiankill Trout Fishing Derby (and the last 3 for the Collins Lake Ice Fishing Derby). Unfortunately due to the economy, we are no longer able to depend on our legislators to provide us with a "member item" of $2000 so that we could buy trout and prizes for these events. We have found it necessary to find other sources for funds other than our local businesses and sportsmen's clubs to "pick up the slack". In September of 2010, we decided to do a "Cigar & Spirits” night fundraiser at “THAT’S A GREAT CIGAR SHOPPE” on Erie Boulevard in Schenectady. It was a success and earned almost enough to cover expenses for the fish. This year we are going to do it again on October 7 from 6 –8 PM. For those who attended last year, you know that Paul (the owner) provided us with a cigar smoking package that included a very tasty $15 cigar. For non smokers, it was a great gift to give to your cigar smoking friends. We also had a representative from Johnny Walker who let us sample Black, Red, and Gold Scotch. In addition we had legal beverages of all types along with wild game appetizers like smoked goose, smoked pheasant, smoked venison, goose pastrami and pulled pork sliders (not exactly wild). Paul also has in his establishment tables for games like pool, chess, checkers, etc. and sports channels on the TV’s . We would like as many of you in the area to join us and support programs for youths that will keep them interested in the outdoors. Below are the details for the evening social and our high quality raffles.

The fundraiser social (only 45 tickets) due to size restrictions (details above)  $35

Raffle #1, 250 tickets for a semi auto Remington Versa Max Camo 12 Gauge, $10 each or 3 for $25

Raffle #2, Thompson center fire Venture Rifle in .243, composite stock/stainless steel. This will be held on the night of the event using only the cards from a 52 card deck. (much better odds).  $20 Percard no limit on how many cards you can purchase.

We encourage you to assist in this fundraising and if you care to contribute to any of the above 3, send your check make out to the Schenectady County Conservation Council and specify exactly where you want the money to go. You may send it to me at 23 Concord St., Scotia, NY  12303.
